When I went to activate the volume, I was unable to. They have been in the system, but not as an active volume. Shortly after purchase, I was able to create a volume from them on this server using this same H200 controller. They were purchased last year, so were not part of the original system. The two drives that I am not able to create a volume for are Dell part number: WD9001BKHG-18D22V0. I believe this will finish up and provide me with the new replacement volume I was looking to create.
If I can’t resolve this issue, I may be forced to use these as individual drives and just create a software RAID in the OS. I did this since this card appears to only allow for 2 volumes at a time. This seems to be disabled in the version of the utility. Third, in the past I was able to "Active" and "Deactivate" the volumes. Second, is it possible the controller sees these two drives as "dirty" and will not allow them to be created into a volume? If so how do a rectify that state? Perhaps this newer version or the Config Utility (7.11.10) is missing those menu options? If so can I roll back to a version like with the menus I need to create a volume I was in the process to make the volume active, but couldn't, so I deleted the volume and was going to recreate it.įirst, why do I not get the menu to options to " Select New volume Type" or " Create New Volume" like is mentioned in the Perc H200 Manual/documentation. The strange thing is that these two drives were once an inactive volume on this controller. However, the Configuration Utility does not give me the options menu screen under the volume screen to Create a new volume. What I am trying to accomplish is create the new RAID 1 volume from these drives.
If I drill down into the SAS Topology menu I can see volumes and two additional drives. What happens when I enter the LSI configuration utility using Ctrl + C. I know its not a very good controller, but it has worked up to now. I have a Dell R715 server with a Perc H200 Raid Controller.
